Why Read: Lexi Crane

I wouldn’t exactly say that books can change your life, but I think that sometimes they can offer an escape.  That’s what’s so cool about stories; anything can happen.  It’s someone’s imagination, or dream, or just their story to tell.  Books let you into the author’s mind, experience how they think.  But what’s even cooler?  Even when you’re thinking exactly what the author once was, you don’t know what happens next, when the author knows how it ends.  So you get wrapped up in your own imagination, and all of the possibilities, so it’s all you think about – which is how it leads you to your own world.  So maybe for some, if all you do is read, it can change your life.
Personally the books that keep me on edge are the ones I find most fascinating.  I recently finished The Body of Christopher Creed by Carol Plum-Ucci, and didn’t expect the ending at all.  The book was so appealing to me because my opinion of who killed Creed and where the body was kept changing.  Why?  Because things kept happening and changing, which led to different conclusions almost every chapter.  Also, the book Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher was one that kept my imagination going.  In order to understand everything, you’d have to read it, but the book constantly made me guess what had happened between the main characters.  Basically, find a genre you like, and you’re good to go.
